Directed by Sam Burbank, the film is based on the book Alcohol in Space (Alcohol in Space: Past, Present and Future: Carberry, Chris: 9781476679242: Amazon.com: Books), by Chris Carberry and tells the story of passionate innovators exploring the prospect of alcohol production and consumption in space. The film features vignettes of the eternal relationship between humanity and intoxicating beverages.
Alcohol in Space premiered at the prestigious Explorers Club in New York City to a standing- room-only audience on October 11, 2024. According to Sam Burbank, "Premiering Alcohol in Space at the Explorers Club headquarters in NYC was a dream come true. The club leadership and members couldn't have been more welcoming, and the Q and A at the screening went on so long, we had to shut it down with still half a dozen hands raised for questions. Now the goal is to find the millions of viewers on earth who want to hear not just stories of rockets and spaceships, but of bringing all of human culture to space."
